This site is mainly dedicated to all veteran car lovers. However it also provides some deeper knowledge about a few legendary cars that tend to be known only by their names. Don't expect to find here a picture of a pick up with flames painted on the bonnet or a 3 meter high SUV, but for sure all those who love cars cast with chrome and four wheel "sculptures" won't regret the time spent surfing on this server. Let us know what you think about it. We will appreciate all your contributions and comments. Thanks to all enthusiastic people and enjoy the ride...
This
picture shows the exhaust pipes of a Duesenberg J. According to the
rules, the external exhaustion pipes were initially used only on
versions with the supercharged engines, but they soon became commonly
used also for "normal" models. External exhaust pipes are considered by
many as a symbol of the pre-war sport cars and were therefore a logical
and undisputable choice for the opening page of our site.
For those buying the glamour prestigious cars in the thirties it was
common to request custom changes to their cars according to personal
liking directly to the constructing factory. A further common practice
was to take your car chassis to the coach builder of you choice..
Hence most old cars are so unique. It is in fact hard to find two
identical models. You can hardly talk about "series" of these cars. In
this "golden age", customising your car in order to make it really
unique was part and parcel of the construction process, while nowadays
such changes are often artificially made once the car construction
process has been completed.
Cars' shapes and style were of course subject in the past to volatile fashion to the same extent to which they are today.
Yet still there seems to be something timeless, transcending the
short-lived fashion, hidden in between the curves and folds of their
chassis.
Our main objective is to offer a deep knowledge of those cars, as they
deserve being studied not only because they belong to other times, but
also and foremost because they are symbols of beauty, elegance and
talent. And those values can never become old-fashioned.
